| Indian Fry Bread 3
3 cups of flour 1 1/3 cup of warm water 1 1/4 teaspoon of baking powder 1/2 teaspoon of salt
Mix flour, baking powder and salt. Add warm water and knead until dough is soft but not sticky. Shape dough into balls. Pat back and forth until dough is thin and round. Make a small hole in center of round. Melt 1 cup lard or shortening in heavy frying pan. Carefully put the round into hot fat, one at a time. Brown both sides. Serve hot. Good with honey or jam. |
