Navajo Squaw Bread

3 cups of flour
1 teaspoon of salt
1 1/3 cup of warm water
3/4 cup of shortening
1 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder

Mix together flour, salt and baking powder. Add water, then knead until dough is soft, kneading by hand. Melt shortening in fry pan until hot. Take a piece of dough, flatten and drop into the hot fat. Dough should be round and thin (similar to a tortilla). After it is fried, it should puff up and be nice and brown.
