| Indian Pumpkin Bread
2/3 cup of butter or shortening 4 cups of brown sugar 1 cup of crushed pumpkin, cooked 4 eggs 3 1/2 cups of flour 1 cup of apple juice 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg 1 cup of nuts, chopped (walnuts or pecans) 1 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder 2 tablespoons of baking soda 1 cup of applesauce |

Cream the butter and sugar together, then add the eggs, one at a time, beating all together real well. Stir in applesauce and pumpkin. Next, sift the dry ingredients together and add with the apple juice. Now stir in nuts and pour into 2 greased bread loaf pans. Bake for 1 hour in a 350ºF. oven. |
