Indian Squaw Bread

4 cups of flour
2 teaspoons of salt
6 teaspoons of baking powder
1 large tablespoon of shortening
Enough water to make a medium stiff dough

Mix together to make a stiff dough. Make a ball about 3 inches in diameter and pull the ball into a 6 inch circle with the fingers. Do not use a rolling pin. Slash one side from the center out with sharp knife in 5 places. Heat 1 inch cooking oil in skillet and when hot drop in bread. Brown on each side and drain. Serve hot.
