Applesauce Cake 4

1 3/4 cup of flour
1/2 teaspoon of soda
1/4 teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon of cloves
1/2 cup of shortening
1 cup of sugar (white)
1 egg, well beaten
1 cup of raisins
1 cup of walnuts
1/2 teaspoon of vanilla
1 cup of applesauce

Sift flour, measure and sift 3 times, add remaining dry ingredients. Cream shortening, add sugar, egg. Alternate dry ingredients and applesauce, beating after each addition. Add raisins, nuts, vanilla. Mix well. Bake in tube pan or loaf pan, 8 x 4 x 3, for 1 hour or until done at 350ºF. Servings depend on size you cut. 

Applesauce Cake

1/2 cup of brown sugar
1 cup of white sugar
1 egg
1/2 cup of butter
2 cups of flour
2 level teaspoons of soda
1 1/2 cup of sweetened applesauce
1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon

Sprinkle top of cake with 1/4 cup sugar, 1/2 cup chopped nuts. Bake in 9x13 inch pan at 350ºF. for 25 to 35 minutes. Good served with a scoop of ice cream.
